I really needed a few days off, no art, and I planned to play in the dirt. I did get to do that some, but then the rains came…and let’s be honest here, we all know I can’t seem to stay out of the studio for very long.
I’ve been thinking about the art talk, in which I just participated. One of the things we discussed were pre sketches or planning before we paint. I don’t normally do that. I have a vague idea of what i think i am going to paint. But that is never the way it seems to work out. Occasionally a doodle will help me process and organize my thoughts, does that count? While I was sick back in February (remember the flu & pneumonia?? I sure do) I created some sketches that I keep thinking about becoming paintings. I have started working on one of these images.
I am using a 12×36 inch canvas, acrylics, willow charcoal (I have loved this stuff since I was introduced to it in college), and water.
