Art Update:
I am working on a few commissions right now that have taken precedence over “Madame Coy”. Check back for an update on her later. Today I am on a mission of some fun and discovery. More to come.
Two Cents:
Here is something I’d like to share my two cents on: How about we just call it what it is, an underground-pop surrealism art?
Here we are with a new art movement, and a slow to recognize and accept it art industry, And what have we learned? People still fear change…new is always a little scary and unnerving. Like it or hate it you can’t deny the power this underground movement in which a lot if artistic styles have been umbrellaed. Oh, and this work is NOT going away. It is here and it’s powerful, and it’s been around a lot longer than many realize. Pop Surrealist Artists take exception with being lumped under a “low brow persona”, they prefer, Pop Surrealism, and that works.
Watch this short film to hear from some of the prominent people in the field.
Peace,
Valerie
Instead of stubbornly attempting to use surrealism for purposes of subversion, it is necessary to try to make of surrealism something as solid, complete and classic as the works of museums.
