Valartist December Newsletter
View this email in your browser As the end of 2024 quickly approaches I wanted to take a moment to share with you my thanks and gratitude for your continued support of Valerie Dowdy Art. My appreciation to patrons and friends like you is difficult to out into words. It is because of you that I am privileged to continue creating my art. Art is my heart’s passion. It is the “thing” that defines who I am and how I see and connect to the world. My muse has been guiding me toward both some new and old directions throughout the years passage. As my brushes follow its lead, I am laboring to embrace its guidance. If I have learned anything as an artist, you are never too old or practiced to learn. Art News 1–As we move forward into 2025, I continue to create digital art/paintings, illustrate, and paint on canvas. As some of you may not know, (and after a bizarre time of Covid in 2020-21), health problems disrupted my art goals. There’s nothing like a reality check to remind you that you are human with limitations. I am hopeful that 2025 will become a year of progress, even if it is a slow journey. I accepted a recent invitation from The Academy Of Fine Arts to participate in a satellite show downtown. It will be a small solo exhibition presenting some new work at Magnolia Foods. I am happy to be stepping back into the art-platform after such a long hiatus. An Author? 2–A second, less discussed goal of mine, has been writing. So, with a lot more free time on my hands, I decided to try to write. I love to read. I have developed a fondness for cozy murder mysteries, thrillers, autobiographies and on the list goes. Years ago, a story line for a murder mystery took form in my imagination. But, with little time to create, it was forced to the back burner and eventually forgotten. Luckily, I’d saved the file and was able to begin reworking it into a complete story. Long story, short, I finished the novel and many edits and rewrites. I plan to self-publish the book soon. Well, as soon as I can finish the technical side of putting it and a cover together. Technical work is definitely NOT a strong skill. I am looking forward to sharing The Adventures Of Phoebe Harrison, Mom. Wife…Sleuth? on Amazon and Apple Books. I’d love to hear from a few of you who would be interested in a free copy of my book in exchange write a fair but honest review. If this is you, drop me a line. SUPPORT 3– Last, but not least, are the shameless business plugs. My coloring books are available on Amazon, and my newest, Welcome To The Garden, along with Dogs Rule & Cats Do Too, Life is Better At Folly Beach- and the original Abstract Expressions. I plan to remove the Abstract Expression series from publication soon. I plan to remake the original Abstract Expressions with new crisper, look and imagery. Technology has improved so quickly since the first editions were created. Stay tuned for more on that later. Art Commissions for paintings are still open for a limited time. Digital Art creations for canvas and giclèe prints are available later. To request a quote, contact me for more information. Art makes a great and personal holiday gift shopping. —>Check out my portfolio for available work <— In closing, I’d like to reiterate my appreciation for your support and wish you and yours the very best for the holiday season and new year.
