Georgia O’Keeffe would not be any prouder than I am of my third and fifth graders at Linkhorne Elementary Summer Camp. They rocked their awesome artwork, and learned fun facts about the artist. Even my rowdy boys enjoyed creating this week. The kids drew the skulls themselves. This was something new and challenging for these children.
Why is art not mandatory in ALL grades EVERY year Virginia? Young people NEED to know how to utilize art skills to manage their lives, cope with emotions, broaden and enhance their education. I can’t think of one field where art and education do not entwine.
