Day 15……Fall Perspective

I don’t know about everywhere else as the fall season approaches, but, in my corner of South West Virginia, the sky is either blindingly vivid and beautiful blue or obscured by heavy, leaden gray clouds.  Each day the sun marches across the sky, diminishing intensely.  The winds blow through our hills and trees causing the leaves to spiral and dance like whirligigs. Quickly, before I have time to catch my breath, vibrant reds, oranges, yellows, ochres are all gone. In their place lay decaying, dry, colorless leaves and twigs. I struggle to not get sad about the upcoming fall and winter. So, I am going to lecture myself and anyone else in the next paragraph.

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of my perspective. It is more important than facts, past, education, money, circumstances, failures and successes. What other people say is not important nor is what they do. We make a choice everyday regarding our perspective. We cannot change the past, and we cannot change other people’s perspective. We are responsible for our perspective. Someone said that life is 10% what happens to us and 90% of how you react to it.

…..and so to leave you on a funny note: I bought a sewing machine today. Within an hour I have tangled up the bobbin twice! I am ready to pack it up and take it back. Ugh. No make that double ugh.
